Many analyst think the next generation of the web will be the so called grid system, where not only the information can be public or freely accessible, but several services connected to the information processing could be available to anyone. This approach probably leads to new perspectives in information accessing and processing.

The grid computing is essential to the future of Europe. The European Commission thinks that the grid computing would lead to a new technological revolution for Europe. The development and employment of the shared-resource computer systems must be an important instrument for the enhancement of the research and development activity. Eventually the result would be the advance of the competitveness over against the USA and Japan.

As Viviane Reding -high commissioner of the Commission- had pointed out in the recent past the grid networks are elemental to answer the challenges of productivity and growth. This technology is the key to the initiation of the new european society of information, which lasts until 2010 (i2010: European Society of Information for growth and employment).

The development of the grid technology which Reding was pointed out to, is now being led by a new generation of european experts bringing a next technical revolution. The accessibility and development of new generation services are widening, through this several social and economical problems can be solved.

The European Research Area will establish a mass inner market in the Union for the people concerned with research activity. According to the Commission’s conception this would be a doubled (70 billion euro) budget Seventh Framework Programme.
